Hailing from the Saskatchewan prairies, Janaya and Jolissa Trudel pair up to form a vibrant folk-roots sister-duo, embodying both joy and depth in one double-batted swing.
Since the successful release of their debut album “Grounded and Light” in 2017, Jay & Jo have toured Canada from coast to coast, taken part in Breakout West’s showcase at Americanafest in Nashville in 2019, and been crowned “Roots Artist of the Year” at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards, 2019. In the midst of the pandemic and great hush of the arts, they dropped their timely and hopeful album “Victory” in July of 2020. Since then, the album has been recognized as on of the top 3 best albums in Saskatoon by PlanetS Magazine, the #6 album in Saskatchewan by Saskmusic, and has received numerous Saskatchewan Country Music Award nominations, including Group of the Year, Album of the Year for “Victory,” Video of the Year for “Youth,” and Songwriter of the Year.
